CHECKING CLINICS

As hockey season approaches, your association may want to consider offering checking clinics for peewee and bantam aged players. I have organized checking clinics for several organizations in Lambton & Middlesex counties. The main focus of these sessions is to better prepare the player to give and receive a body check. Topics such as body positioning, balance, avoiding the check, roll checks, rap checks, pins and others are all demonstrated and practiced.

Hockey is a very physical sport and although no guarantees exist, you can give your son the knowledge and skills to greatly minimize the risk of a concussion while improving his confidence and level of play.

Typically we run 2 sessions per team-group. As a lot of first time peewees will just be introduced to body contact, the beginning of the season is the best time to organize these sessions.
